Aren't you here with someone? Connor thought about asking. Stop being so clingy, Hudson. I saw you two days ago. Back up, please. We're not doing the double act anymore, remember? This is my corner, go find your own. Look, over there, isn't that Yorgos, just waiting for you to notice him?

"Congratulations," Malfoy said, when Harry saw him next. He had to have cut in front of half a dozen disgruntled Ministry employees in the queue to stand behind Harry. "I'm so sorry I missed the wedding. My invite must have gotten lost in the mail."
"Must've," Harry said. "We held up the ceremony for you. Waited for hours, but you didn't show."
Malfoy's voice was light. Cheerful. "You might've rescheduled."

"Stop asking me if it's okay. If I want it. You're always, like—whatever. I'm not one of your fucking girls, okay? If I don't like it, I'll stop you. I can make you stop."

Bookmarker's Notes
Scott doesn’t give a shit if Rozanov is angry at him: this situation is Rozanov’s own damn fault, his and Hollander’s. And there’s nothing Rozanov can do about it, which he must know. Rozanov’s good-looking, Scott thinks. Haughty, too. Big fucker, mean on the ice. He’d look great crying with Scott’s dick in his throat. And he’d take it, too, to protect Hollander. Funny, that he wants Hollander bad enough to risk his career and citizenship and life, but won’t touch him now, just because Scott’s there.

"Um. What happened?”
"Obviously I don't know! I woke up, and it was—wrong. Everything was big. I just woke up.”
The last part is so quiet, the sort of soft you save for kneeling at the foot of your bed, hands clasped, the way Hudson pictures all Americans: a little bit religious. Connor as a kid, whispering with his little reverent forehead bent. Please god. Please god, make me good, make me good enough, please please please make me an underwear model, at the very least.

Bookmarker's Notes
Ilya considers him with a serene expression. “You look pretty.”
Shane isn’t sure if that could be true. He’s fairly certain he’s been grinding his teeth in that way his dentist keeps warning him not to. He forces his jaw to loosen before saying, “What, because I’m wet?”
“No,” Ilya says. “Because you’re hurting.”

Summary
After his second Cup win, Shane had stared down the gaping maw of August stretched open before him and, for the first time, the thought of spending it fishing and birding at his cottage, alone, without anyone to make him a sandwich or press his head into the space beneath their chin, was unbearable.
Thus, Los Angeles.

People could power cities on the strength of Shane’s belief in the maybe-Rozanov text.

Summary
“Why did you even come here?”
“I came to get laid,” Ilya says honestly. “But my friend is not well, so.”
Shane jerks his chin towards the door.
“Still time,” he mutters.

Bookmarker's Notes
“Will you come with me?”
When he turns, Shane is already staring at him. His eyes are glassy and marble-dark, black pupils blown wide. Looking into them makes something wrench internally. Like being gutted with a fish knife, or kicked in the chest.
“Please,” Shane says softly. “Please come with me. Please.”
