Summary
Five years ago, Shane left his hometown in pursuit of his career. He left his parents, his friends, his life, and a husband, who woke up one morning to find him gone—all to start a new life for himself.
Now, Shane has everything he could possibly want and more. His career as a musician has taken off: he’s rich, he’s famous, he’s surrounded by a group of some of the best friends he could’ve asked for, and he has a very perfect boyfriend.
Everything in his life is going according to plan, until said perfect boyfriend proposes, and Shane is forced to acknowledge the fact that he is, legally, still married. Though not by choice of course, but rather because his “husband” has sent back every single set of divorce papers unopened, and unsigned.

Shane Hollander has known about Greg's son in Russia for as long as he can remember. Greg has been his stepfather since Shane was five — the man who drove him to practice, taught him to tape his stick, showed up to every game. The son in Russia was just a name. Now Ilya Rozanov — rival, problem, the one player Shane cannot figure out on film or on ice — is standing in the driveway of the only home Shane has ever known, holding an MVP trophy like a set of keys, about to sleep down the hall.
Same roof. Same rink. Same city in Minnesota that is about to get a lot smaller.
Shane is very good at math. He just can't figure out what he's solving for.

This was not how Shane expected to spend the night after his pro hockey career officially started: naked in a cold shower, freaking out over Alexei Rozanov’s little brother being his gay awakening. Fuck. Fuck, fuck, fuck.
An AU where Ilya's dad is the parent that dies instead of his mom. Much lower stakes than in the canon universe, but still lots of angst.
