Skipping his fingers greedily along the chain, Ilya hurries to put it on, fumbling with the strange clasp until he hears a satisfying click of it locking in place. The weight is more than he’s used to, sits heavy on his skin where the previous one had danced and moved with him.
It could feel cloying, choking; instead, it offers reassurance.

His chest heaves with another sob, and Ilya darts into the bathroom; he needs a mirror, he needs to see-
The thicker chain, new and sparkling, glimmers even in the shitty hotel bathroom lighting.

Summary
A nineteen-year-old Shane Hollander is a completely normal college student-- well, almost. In between studying and lectures, he kills vampires. Pretty normal college student stuff.
In a world where vampires crawl the earth, feeding on the innocent, there has to be someone to stop them. Or multiple someone's. Shane is one of them, more out of tradition than anything else. He doesn't take pleasure in killing vampires like other hunters do. Despite this, he continues to hunt, to protect the earth from these dangerous, unpredictable, blood thirsty monsters.
Shane isn't there to hunt vampires, but he's prepared to kill any if he comes across them.
Ilya Rozanov is also a completely normal nineteen-year-old college student. Other than the tiny little hiccup that he's one of the blood thirsty monsters Shane's grown up hunting.
Ilya can blend in perfectly. He's charismatic and popular. Textbook frat guy. He doesn't do this because he necessarily wants to-- he does it out of survival.

What attracted Ilya the most was confidence, ambition – and Hollander had plenty of both. But he was also absolutely gorgeous, there was no denying that, especially from up close.
"Don't you think this is dangerous?" Hollander continued.

Ilya reached out to gently trace Hollander's jawline, then ran a finger over his lips, catching a hint of their wetness.
Hollander stepped closer – but just as Ilya thought he was about to kiss him, he dropped onto his knees, pulled his shirt off, and began unbuttoning Ilya's pants, seeking consent through his gaze.
