He knew his heartbeat, the rate of his breaths, all of his tiny micro-expressions he thought he knew how to hide. Jon spent most of his time with Damian. It was impossible for Jon to not know everything that was going on with him.

When Damian receives his birthday gift from Suren, he has the sudden and terrible thought that he should have been more on guard. After all, what sensible present would send him careening into another dimension?
Suren's past gifts have involved tigers and dinosaurs and booby-trapped treasure chests - but waking up in Jon's arms may just prove to be the worst one yet.

It was prom, not a battle, or a trial, or any of the equally awful and difficult things that Damian had done before the age of 10. He could handle prom, being in a too-warm high school gymnasium decorated like an aquarium or Paris or whatever, drinking watered down punch and listening to awful radio pop, and dancing with Jon, and holding his hand, with matching bowties, and Damian was so fucking screwed.
No. It’s fine. He could handle this. It was Jon. It was Jon, his best friend who was afraid of crime documentaries, but not horror movies because "those ones actually happened, Dames-”. It was Jon, who couldn’t stay up past 11:00 without nodding off mid-sentence. Damian groaned, burying his face in hands, because it was Jon.or, how Damian got a totally-for-real boyfriend, went to prom, stuck it to Ra's Al Ghul, and got grounded in one night.
