For their 20th anniversary, Stede had booked a non-refundable vacation to Denmark – with a 3-day trip to visit Alma, who was studying in Glasgow – as a surprise for Mary.
Mary’s anniversary surprise to Stede was ... divorce papers.
And so it was that Stede had found himself in need of a travel partner – or otherwise face the prospect of going on the loneliest trip of his life.
His assistant, Lucius, had told him about a website called Travelbuddi.com where people evidently searched for strangers to travel the world with.
