“Okay,” he mutters in the inches between them. Watches Scott’s face contort on a microscopic level beneath the warm puff of air. He doesn't pull away from Theo’s hand on him.
“Okay,” he repeats, and Scott lets him steer his body to his room.

Summary
On their way back to Camelot, Merlin and Arthur get ambushed by bandits. Arthur gets hurt in the fight, and Merlin—instead of acting like a proper servant to the king—shuts down all of Arthur’s protests and makes them share a horse so that Arthur can rest. Now, for the remainder of their way home, Arthur is seated behind Merlin in the saddle and given nothing but time to contemplate the longing in his heart.
The warmth that Merlin offers in the crisp air—Arthur’s arms wrapped around Merlin’s middle, his chin on Merlin’s shoulder—might just finally make him act on his feelings.

Arthur frowned, unnerved. That was not what he should be asking. Merlin should be more fearful for his own safety. Perhaps he was, and he was simply concealing it. So Arthur took pity on him, and as he so often did these days, adopted Merlin's courage as his own.
"No," Arthur told him firmly. "Not in the slightest."
