A favorite epistolary romance story, a bit dark and full of delicious tension. I absolutely love the dual-authorship dynamic (yes, I'm a fan of This is How You Lose the Time War!) though, sadly, I didn't encounter this work until after the writers completed it so I missed the real-time posting anticipation.

Measure Of A Man by inadaze22
Of course I love this for the deeply felt Dramione story, but my re-reads have been motivated by the complex caregiving dynamics between Draco and Narcissa and Hermione and Narcissa. Caring for an unwell, estranged parent is a challenge I know well, and I was not expecting to find this level of reflection and healing around it in a romance fic. Just, wow.

Summary
Hermione is beginning her legal career as a junior counsel in the Department for Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures with her eye on making serious changes. Meanwhile, the entire department is a bit caught up in a strange, ongoing situation. You see, three years ago, the magic of the Malfoy estate went rogue and is now a feral enchanted forest. Worse yet, the young Malfoy heir seems to have bound himself to it.
What begins as a fight for magical creatures and wild lands becomes something far more complex: a confrontation with the tangled threads of their past, present, and future.
