This time, when Stiles winced, it was for a different reason. “I dunno. Out?”
“How did this happen?”
“I got jumped leaving the station a couple of hours ago,” Stiles said quietly. “But really, dude, it’s fine. I couldn’t get an answer from his phone so I figured I’d come here instead—”
“Not the hospital?”
“Dude, it’s a few bruises and cuts. I’m not going to the hospital for that.”

Summary
They didn't talk much about why Stiles was back in town.
His mother had been inordinately proud of that fact she went into labor and delivered Stiles alone in the woods. It was the eighties, she couldn’t exactly call her husband on her cell phone. Stiles was born healthy in the preserve.
Scott got hurt. Scott is Stiles to protect. He always has been. Stiles is pissed about quite a few things. “Scott is my fifteen year old cousin! And you hurt him and then left him alone and hurt? What’s wrong with you?” He has gotten very close to Derek’s face. Stiles takes a breath and turns away.
Or- what if Stiles was the responsible adult at home?

Summary
Stiles still has nightmares, and sometimes has to nap in the middle of the day before he crashes. Most of the time, on Dereks’ insistence. During most of these sudden naps, Derek will fully shift and curl around him, letting the smaller boy use him as a pillow and teddy bear all in one. He will lay his paws over Stiles' frame protectively, and almost become a nest of fur all around him. The protective instinct goes both ways, as the pack have found out, sometimes ending in just a little bloodshed.
