“Viktor?” Jayce whispered, blinking quickly, trying to adjust his vison to the darkness as the dust started clearing. “Viktor!”
"…’M here, Jayce.”
Somehow, the slurring of the words was just as terrifying as the situation itself. Viktor never sounded like that, always took pride in himself for choosing his words and how he said them carefully. Only a handful of times letting himself lax and be free with his speech…only when he was with Jayce.
"Where - ” Jayce struggled to say, pushing himself up on his forearms to look ahead and quickly realized he was wrong. No, it wasn’t the most terrifying thing to see the ceiling crumbling around Viktor, it wasn’t hearing his speech be slowed and weary.
It was this.
Or a failed experiment with the Hexcore causes an explosion. Jayce and Viktor are trapped and time is not on their side.
