He doesn’t feel like a SOLDIER right now. Doesn’t feel like much of anything, of anyone. Scooped out and left as a hollow splatter on the concrete. He doesn’t want any of this, doesn't want to be touched or helped or spoken to or seen at all. He wants to stand up and walk away and fix it himself. He wants to be left alone to die. He wants to be held until it stops hurting. For better or worse, he’s not getting anything he wants right now.
Cloud Strife hits his head really, really hard.

Summary
Optimization is V1’s specialty. From projectile punching to explosion-propelled feats of acceleration, V1 was made to make itself better: faster. To achieve maximum performance, it opts to optimize its energy usage. A more efficient source of biofuel may exist—but V1 needs a means to extract it. A particular peripheral used by Mindflayers seems promising.
V1 intends to test it on Gabriel. There must be something better than blood.
