There’s another loud boom of thunder, causing his hands to grip so tightly around something metal in his hands it’s crushed. His hands are wet now, sticky. But not sticky like blood, the blood dried.
Why is there blood?
He blinks, and his face feels tight and… he reaches up to poke it, and it feels wet.
Why is his face wet?
Impulse blinks, setting down the crushed object and grabbing another, until everything around him goes blissfully dark.
or, impulse loses his sense of self and time after a trauma he can't recall, but giggs are there to help him through the night.

Summary
With a sigh, Impulse nods. He makes a face like he wants to protest, but Joel thinks that he must have heard at least some of what Joel had said before he woke up, because he doesn’t push it further. Well, almost, because he then opens his mouth again, and Joel waits for some half-hearted reasoning to why he needs to finish something to feel accomplished or something.
Look, Joel gets it. Joel probably gets it more than just about anyone, though he has a sneaking suspicion that many of the Hermits feel the same way. But that doesn’t mean he’s going to encourage it, especially not for this man, this lovely, anxious man.
However, Joel is pleasantly surprised when that’s not, in fact, what Impulse winds up saying. “I will take a break, on one condition.” Joel raises an eyebrow, wary of what his friend might try to get away with. “You come cuddle with me.”

Cassandra slid the shoes on her feet, smiling at the memories of afternoons hidden away with her mother. She rose onto the balls of her feet, lowering with an exhale.
A pause, a slow turn, and then she went running across the floor into a leap.
There was no music, and yet… she didn’t stop moving. Her mind supplied memories of the piano being played in the corner, memories of her laughter when she tripped over her feet. The memory of her mother’s voice was music enough.

“I haven’t been on a date since my husband passed,” May says, flinching when she realizes the potential to bring down the mood. She really is rusty. It doesn’t help that Pepper is intimidating, even when she is looking all cozy and holding the most massive cup of coffee that May’s ever seen. “I should probably have waited until the second date to bring up the dead husband,” she murmurs.
Pepper barks out a laugh, her eyes widening and free hand immediately going to cover her mouth. The look of pure mortification on her face causes May to let out a big laugh. “Oh my god,” Pepper laughs a little, turning bright red as their food is set down in front of them.

The lights softly glowed behind him and overhead, leading out to the looming shadows beyond the door. To the exterior fence and the still-darkened food court, all exactly in place as they should be.
But something was just off enough to make his skin crawl, only compounded by being unable to put his thumb on exactly what it was."
