"Player recognized. Welcome to the Culling Games."

Your eyes snapped open to a world you did not recognize. Large stone towers with bright, flat lanterns loomed over you. No, not stone—concrete. Apartment buildings. Offices. These were not lights, but billboards. The modern terms surfaced somehow, they echoed from memories that weren't yours.

You've awakened in a different body, in a different time. And though your past has been stripped away, fragments rise to the surface, reminding you that you were never meant to be here. Now, in the middle of the Culling Games, you're stuck with more questions than answers and no breaks to find them.

    Who were you?
To whom belongs the aching void in your memories?
And how did you awaken in modern-day Japan… after your brutal execution a thousand years ago?

tl;dr: You wake in modern day Japan with fractured memories of love and home from the Heian era. Why is the hole in your past shaped exactly like him, while he doesn't recognize you at all?

“Aran-kun is there.” Osamu’s voice is strangled between excitement and the anxious coil that is also curling in Atsumu’s stomach.

“But we aren’t gonna be in the same class anymore.”

“Whatcha shittin’ yer pants for? Yer gettin’ into the advanced class. Who’s gonna explain maths to me?”

“Yer good at gettin’ people to like ya,” Atsumu shrugs, folding another hoodie into his suitcase.

Instead, the heroine might have considered union with Diplozoon paradoxum, a flatworm that lives in gills of freshwater fish. “Males and females meet each other as adolescents, and their bodies literally fuse together, whereupon they remain faithful until death,” Dr. Barash said. “That’s the only species I know of in which there seems to be 100 percent monogamy.” And where the only hearts burned belong to the unlucky host fish.

Chuuya did not know what was worse: that there was something inside of him eating away at his body or that he didn't choose to love Dazai of his own free will.

❝ my love for him is much like winter, a skeleton for the world to see. too bad he never liked the cold. ❞

being the neighbor and lifelong best friend of tooru oikawa definitely had it’s perks. you were never an outcast, always had a seat at lunch, got into volleyball games for free. the problem was, however, that being in love with him outweighed those perks. you would never tell him that, though, even if it hurt like hell.

“Guess what, Japan!” Hinata Shouyou beamed. “I’m home!”

There was an enthusiastic hoot behind him in the otherwise silent bus.

“And I’m also here with the rest of Japan’s National Men’s Volleyball Team, because — we’re going to the Olympics!”
