With that, he watches her disappear further into the steel. Tilts his head again once she’s out of sight. Cooper hadn’t been sure what to expect from traveling with the Vault-dweller but he sure as shit never anticipated growing attached to her.
He tries to use the storm as a distraction. Listens closely to the thunder. He can’t see the flashes of lightning, but he might as well be able to taste them. Huh. Maybe he’ll go back outside. Keep watch. Make sure no one else tries taking cover here. Lucy has the mutt to keep her company, after all. Plus, it’s been a damn long while since he’s had the chance to enjoy a radiation storm.
The sudden scream echoing through the metal halls has other plans for him.

AKA, the trio takes cover from a radiation storm in an abandoned bunker except when lucy goes wandering she comes across some feral ghouls which cooper takes care of and afterwards they get a little closer than either of them would've anticipated

That being said, they decide to pack up their belongings and keep moving. By daylight, they reach a settlement with clean water. It’s not the coincidence Lucy believes it is; Cooper knew full well where they were heading. He figures she’s earned this. She deserves it.
She gets water to soak her suit in while Cooper fills the tub for her. It’s lukewarm. Better than nothing. Lucy doesn’t complain. She strips out of her suit without a care in the world that he’s standing right there. He tries not to watch. Tells himself he’s not interested in her like that. She’s got his attention, sure, but he’d never act beyond a few impure thoughts.
Once her suit is hanging to dry, the tub has been filled. He turns away completely as he realises that she’s slipping her underwear off. It’s another few long seconds before he hears her sinking into the tub. The sound she lets out is fucking torturous.

AKA, cooper and lucy find their annoyance and irritation with each other growing into desire and, eventually, lucy decides to shoot her shot because cooper hasn't tried killing her yet so what could possibly go wrong?

If Lucy’s world ain’t black and white already, that’d be sure to do it.
