Summary
That luck still persists, but good god if MacCready can say that things are always certain and not pants-shittingly terrifying. There’s always The Big One; Shaun, the Institute, the Brotherhood occupation and the future of the Minutemen and of the Commonwealth as a whole. Then the mundane; she’s too damn pretty for a guy like him, he can’t give her the life her and her late husband had built together, she doesn’t understand why he hates the idea of a robot acting like a human being and sometimes, just sometimes, she has a request in bed that makes his sensibilities baulk.
This, currently, is one of them.
| Nora wants to peg her partner very, very badly. MacCready, for once in his life, has no idea what to say.

Summary
“I’ll be right back, Wolfwood…”
He shambles towards the door. It’s a pathetic display, and he certainly isn’t moving with his usual speed or grace, but Wolfwood’s stomach still lurches. His body moves without his input, something he generally tries to avoid, but before his mind’s caught up he’s latching onto Vash’s wrist and hauling him backwards, squeezing tighter than is probably advisable considering the wealth of bruises that cover his arms.
Vash doesn’t look pained, though, as he turns back to Wolfwood. At least not in that way. “What—”
“Don’t,” Wolfwood’s voice comes out a raspy whisper, it’s pathetic, he was supposed to be above things like this, attachments, anything that falls outside the parameters of his mission, and this—Vash—certainly does—but his lower lip is already starting to tremble. His eyes smart. He chokes out “Don’t leave me again” and watches Vash’s face soften all at once, the way it does when someone usually starts to cry in front of him.
---
It was a near miss, nearer than Wolfwood usually prefers to get in a lot of ways.

Summary
Wolfwood’s on him before it’s closed all the way. Vash is so—Wolfwood doesn’t want to call him easy, would never, because he isn’t, naturally. Vash is the most elusive person he knows, physically and emotionally, and that Wolfwood knows, nobody in their university has ever come close to standing where Wolfwood is standing right now.
But at the same time he is easy. Because he laughs and hooks his arms over Wolfwood’s neck, and when Wolfwood crowds in to kiss him his mouth falls open, and it’s his soft lips and pointy teeth, his tongue sliding beneath Wolfwood’s, allowing him in. So easy, to take from, to want. It’s absurd. Wolfwood is harder than he’s ever been in his goddamn life.
“What do you,” Wolfwood sort of fumbles, because he’s—fuck, he’s asked, but he’s never asked someone like Vash. Someone he likes as much as Vash. “How do you want to—?”
“Whatever you want,” Vash says. He’s—mellow. Well, easy.

Summary
“You’re really the worst,” Vash complains. “You saying that just makes me want to get into more trouble. And I don’t even want to get into trouble in the first place!”
“Would a bit of incentive help?” Wolfwood asks. He rolls up his sleeve and raises his fist for extra measure, and Vash has the audacity to laugh at him, barely cowed at all.
“Not that kind of incentive.”
Wolfwood clicks his tongue, dropping his arm. It’d been an empty threat anyway, as previously established. “What do you want from me, then? Money? A drink? I give you those plenty. Do I have to resort to begging? You want me on my knees, Needle-Noggin?”
“That—” Vash’s adam’s apple bobs with a visible swallow, which is interesting. His eyes dip from Wolfwood’s face to his chest for one long, lingering moment, then abruptly lift again, as if Vash’s brain just caught up with his line of sight. “Th-That would just be embarrassing,” he stammers, but after a drawn out look like that, he’s not fooling anybody.
---
Tired of Vash pitching himself headfirst into every dangerous situation he comes across, Wolfwood offers him a little reward for good behaviour.

Summary
When Vash woke, it was with someone else cradled in his arms. That wasn't unheard of. It happened, sometimes, with the drinking.
So he supposed this was another of those mornings – that he would extract himself from bed as carefully as possible so as not to wake his partner, collect his things, leave them a glass of water and a note, and make his way back to his own room to go through his usual workout. Maybe find himself some breakfast before he met up with Wolfwood. Normal stuff.
Except when he opened his eyes to take in his surroundings and plot his escape, he was hit by one terrible, unconscionable revelation.
The person in his arms was Meryl.
Shit.

Summary
Wolfwood carries a body.
Vash is a walking death wish. A race between self-sacrifice and skill, and in all Wolfwood’s shitty years on this shit-ass planet he’s never met a man with so much of each.
So maybe Vash taking a bullet to the head for him shouldn’t have been a surprise.
