“Now rest, Phainon.”
Unfortunately, his sleeping conditions were less than optimal. After all, Phainon was accustomed to being lulled to sleep by the scent of pomegranates warmed through by the body at his back, at his side, above or below him, pressing that heat into him with every deep breath in his ear. How could a measly blanket, reflecting no one’s warmth but his own, begin to compare to Mydei’s embrace.
Not to mention the leather straps and blindfold. But those were minor inconveniences.
Mydei’s solution to Phainon overworking himself after an injury? Wrestling him down and tying him to the kline so he can get some proper rest and recuperation.
Phainon has an unexpected reaction that has nothing to do with sleep.

He doesn’t turn, but he does tune out the hawking of the merchants some more to hone in on the conversation. Phainon is fairly fit, though, he ponders, half amused and half bemused, as he picks up a pomegranate. Surely if anything, his arms are thicker than his face?

It sounds…well, it's no doubt due to the language barrier, but to 'measure' someone's 'devotion' sounds almost like something to ask a lover, or someone who's hand you're asking for in marriage. "I'd be willing to do most anything to prove my devotion to the cause."
"You have proven your strength of character, and you did not pass out in the throne room, which proves your perseverance," The prince acquiesces, and he pauses slightly at the small side table, strong back turned to Phainon. "I just…am, ah…curious, about…what else you interested in doing…while you are a guest in my home."
the democratic republic of okhema requires assistance from the kingdom of castrum kremnos to stay the black tide. phainon is sent by lady aglaea to beg boons of their crown prince—he proposes a partnership, a sort of political 'marriage' of their lands until the cancer inhabiting the lands is quelled with their joined strength.
