The one miracle to come out of all this was Benoit Blanc. Jud had assumed the detective would solve this case and move onto the next one, vanish out of Jud’s life with the same abruptness as his arrival. And he did disappear, often and swiftly, with few niceties or goodbyes.
But then a few days later he’d suddenly reappear: be it at hearings where Jud would have otherwise had to battle the tedium of bureaucracy alone, or online, posting statements to cushion some particularly devastating blows against Jud in the media, Benoit Blanc kept cropping up when he was needed the most.

Collins winces, looks down at his white-knuckled hands. “It’s snowing.”
Harry nods, thinking that might be all he gets by way of an answer. It is, after all, plenty.

Summary
Henry Peglar came to Beechey Island for a new start. It's going well; he likes his job, his roommates, and has plenty of friends in town. But a stop at the local video store has him discovering sides of his new life he didn't expect in the slightest.
John Bridgens is perfectly content to run his video store and be a friendly face about town. But a new customer who wants to learn everything John has to teach about movies is driving him to distraction. And making him wonder if he's willing to risk being seen as a lecherous old man just to keep seeing Henry's smile.
