Summary
Kim never thought he’d be able to say he was married, but he is. They do it quietly, in a registry office, with P’Chan and Pol and Liddy as their witnesses. Even though it’s small, it’s perfect.
There’s going to be a big party when they get home, so they celebrate with lunch at the hotel restaurant, dressed up in their fancy clothes. Kim’s actually wearing his wedding ring, just for today (he’s found he can’t stop playing with it when it’s on his hand) and it’s constantly catching his eye, little flashes of gold against the silver of his cutlery, against his skin, against Chay’s hand. Nothing else feels real yet, but there’s a ring on his finger that says he did it. He’s Chay’s now.
“We should let the newlyweds have some privacy,” Liddy says, and invites Pol and Chan back to her house. Kim is a little jealous he can’t come because he has to go have sex now. “Be gentle on your ankle, sweetie.”
Or: a big change leaves Kim happy and a little sad.
