She thinks it’s because of the way it rolls off his tongue all smooth and effortless like a muscle memory.

He looms over her, so close she can smell the whiskey on his breath. As she stares up at his hat-clad silhouette, a strange feeling shoots through her body, causing a twinge between her legs and a tingle in her spine. She stands rooted to the floor, unable to think, unable to move.
He doesn't move either, except for his gaze. It roams her face, drops down to her neckline, jumps up to her face again. His anger seems to bleed away, and in its place something else creeps in. Something complicated and frightening.
