Cherri could laugh at that, to hell with what society wanted. She’d married Apo for love, and they’d managed. She would rather die than wed another person. Her Apo was precious.
And that was how she ended up headed for the first train to Oakhurst. Her bag was heavy in her hand, but her determination didn’t waiver in the slightest. People watched, always a curious, and prying eye. Cherri was so sick of their officious opinions. No one had approved of Cherri and Apo’s courtship, let alone their marriage. She’d said it a million times, and she would always relay it, to hell with what everyone else thought or wanted.
