Summary
Louis and Harry have a simple arrangement, born out of hometown boredom. They hookup every year, once a year, on Louis' birthday, and then pretend the other doesn’t exist as they live their lives on opposite sides of the country.
They aren't friends, in fact, they hardly know each other. It's completely manageable until they discover, post-grad, that they've moved to the same city.

Summary
'I know it's probably weird for us to go on a cruise together. I just don't want to waste the tickets.'
Louis had agreed, thankfully, but not before he'd gone back and forth in Harry's messages for a few days. One second, he didn't think he'd be able to spend that much time away from New York because of his book and the next, it was that his mom might have plans — anything to grasp onto. Harry doesn't blame him; a vacation with Louis isn't ideal for him post breakup, either.
or
not wanting to waste free tickets to a cruise, harry and louis agree to put aside their differences to make use of a free vacation. despite the things that remain unspoken between them, the two navigate their way through finding each other again, and learn that sometimes life can offer a second chance to get things right.

Summary
On his previous tour, Harry would often come back to his hotel room with someone, but this time he had unconsciously made the decision to sleep with Louis only, and Louis seemed to be doing the same, or so Harry hoped. Naked selfies taken in the bathroom mirror. Harry’s hard cock, followed by a text that said thinking about you. One, two fingers pushed up his arse, wish it were your fingers. Phone calls, too, sometimes. “I can’t wait to stretch you open again,” Louis would tell him over the phone, “make you come untouched, just my fingers and my tongue.” And so he did, that one night in Buenos Aires. Casual sex was fun, but nothing was as good as sex with someone who knew you as well as Louis knew Harry.
or: Harry and Louis have been friends for ages, sleeping together any chance they get. One night in Rome, Harry decides that it's time to confess his feelings.

Summary
When Harry reaches towards the door handle there’s suddenly a warm body pressed against his back and a hand stopping him from turning the handle. He can feel Louis’ breath on the side of his neck. It’s painfully familiar, yet somehow also a completely new situation and Harry has to close his eyes so he can focus on getting the hell out of here.
“Why are you really here, Harry?” Louis whispers in Harry’s ear and goose bumps start to litter his skin.
“I don’t know,” Harry tries again but he does know. He’s known it since he saw Louis at the stadium.
“I think you do,” Louis says softly before he grabs Harry’s wrist and turns him around. Harry blinks his eyes open and stares at Louis’ blue eyes while slumping against the door.

Summary
One, two, three, four, one, two, three, four. He wanted to fucking scream, he almost felt like he was, the impulse so real he could feel his throat burning from it.
One, two, three, four, one, two–and that’s when Harry saw him.
Standing last from his seat in the front of the church, the man slowly turned to face them. As their eyes locked, the thumping in Harry’s chest stopped and he lost count, like tripping on his own feet. Even in the dim light, filtered through floor-to-ceiling stained glass, the man’s eyes were shockingly blue, holding Harry’s with a quiet intensity that was slicing through his skin like a knife.
His stature was strong and demanding, but grief showed itself in the smallest betrayals—the red rims of his eyes, the tight line of his lips, the faint slack in his shoulders.
Harry knew he should look away, but something about those eyes were pulling him along, like a forcefield of strength to help him get one foot in front of the other.
The man looked away first.
or, harry just graduated from college, and on the night his life was supposed to change, everything fell apart.
