He was so close. A hag hair’s breadth away from saying the simple words: will you join me for a picnic? And now everything is ruined. If only Mimsy had set out the correct suit and robes. If only he hadn’t spent such a prolonged amount of time begging Mimsy to hurry up and clean the damn correct robes. If only she hadn’t refused, saying that it wasn’t the right day for his romantic endeavors, as if a freed elf suddenly possessed intimate knowledge of wixen courting rituals. Pah. If only he hadn’t been forced by Potter, the Ultimate Nob, to learn that Landric the bloody security guard is in love with Hermione because of course he is, the young, specky git. If only they weren’t trapped Merlin knows where with possibly no hope of escape.

Hermione Granger isn’t supposed to be a dangerous bitch with her hair tamed into braids or leggings beneath her school skirt or a sneer painted on her face. She isn’t supposed to quietly watch people, only responding to questions if she feels like it. She isn’t supposed to be difficult to read unless she is angry. She isn’t supposed to make the temperature drop several degrees upon entering a classroom. She is supposed to be a swotty, bushy-haired, skinny, book-obsessed, grade-chasing, overemotional, desperate little people-pleaser. That’s what everyone expects. That’s what everyone wants. It doesn’t matter that she’s been through a war, had likely carried her two Gryffindor parasites through every battle, had been the most wanted Muggleborn in Britain. Summary
Hermione Granger is desperate to get Hogwarts up and running again after the war. She wants to do a full renovation, add special courses, allow new regulations for muggle-borns and more. But despite being 'The Golden Girl', she's shite at getting the elite to spend their galleons on her cause. She's blunt and lacking in the social graces expected of someone of her status.
Draco Malfoy has just finished serving a 3 year term at Azkaban for his part in the war-a sentence that was only lowered because of Hermione's character witness at his trial. He sees her struggling to make the right impression amongst the upper-class wizarding community and offers to give her lessons in manners and etiquette associated with closing the deals she needs to secure her dreams.
But this isn't just any kind of arrangement.
