Summary
“I want— I—” Mitch stutters.
“Mitch!” Auston’s voice interrupts him.
Mitch’s head instinctively turns so Mitch can look over at Auston, who is using his hand to beckon Mitch to him. As their eyes meet, Mitch feels the familiar sensation of his body responding to Auston’s attention. His insides are singing, his cells igniting and his heart is calling out to Auston like he’s the only home it’ll ever know.
It is then that Mitch blurts out his last wish, the most real and most honest one. The one gift he wants more than anything else in the world but that he's never dared say out-loud for fear of losing everything he has and holds dear in his life.
