“You are not here to be entertained,” Lan Wangji bites back.
Wei Wuxian has the nerve to laugh. “I’m not here to learn either, I already know everything we’re going to be taught in these lectures. If you’re not going to entertain me, I’ll entertain myself, gege.”
“Wei Wuxian!” Lan Wangji yells, barely maintaining his composure as his ears flame red.
Wei Wuxian’s laughter rings through the Cloud Recesses and breaks about a dozen rules. “Call me Wei Ying, Lan Zhan, we’re going to be best friends!” Wei Wuxian replies, tugging at the sleeve of Lan Wangji’s robe with two fingers in a scissoring motion before he runs off in a flow of white robes and inappropriate laughter.

Summary
Wei Ying uses his smile and bright laughs like a folding screen, like one of Nie Huaisang's many fans, but Lan Wangji sees. He sees the network of lightning and raised skin on the boy's back, sees his smile falter with every barbed reprimand from Jiang Wanyin and the way he constantly skirts around the border of things, as if he has to constantly know the point where he is unwanted.
He looks at Wei Ying and sees a future of squandered potentials and a brightness curbed at every turn, of a life making himself less in a Sect that would always see him as a servant's son and the reflection of their own inadequacy, and he laments that Wei Ying could not seem to see that - See past the sense of debt and false belonging his so-called family had ingrained into him.
But Lan Wangji is a patient man, and he would make Wei Ying see in time. Even if it means using the insecurities of Wei Ying's own family against him.

He hated so much sometimes he thought he’d die with all the hate in his veins. He hated the Wens, he hated the world and he hated Wei WuXian. He hated him with crippling intensity, a hate so profound it matched the devastating love he still had for his brother. And he hated that too. He laid a trembling hand on his abdomen where that pulsing core sat, that awful, powerful, stolen core and what he would give to not know it was Wei WuXian's.

SiZhui was unable to clear his mind as Jin Ling drifted across his thoughts for the millionth time since that night; the loud brash head of LanlingJin creeping over him and he swallowed heavily.
Even though he had been so desperately drunk that night, his ears ringing with Wei WuXian and HanGuang-Jun he had still heard the soft muffled moans that slipped passed Jin Ling’s hand and he couldn’t block it out.
He wondered guiltily what that moaning voice would sound like in the throes of passion. Would he be loud? Or quiet? Would he scream like Wei WuXian or would he groan like HanGuang-Jun? Would he pant with dirty words in his ear or would he be breathless under him? What would those full lips taste like? What would those hips look like? What would his ass feel like under his hands?
SiZhui slipped his fingers into his sleeve pulling out a small bottle of oil he had taken to carrying around because he clearly had a problem. Then he slid that oiled hand under his robes and into his pants, as he caught his lip with his teeth to hold back the gasp in his throat.
He felt his lashes flutter closed as he gave himself up to his fantasies, gave himself up to the boy who haunted his dreams.
