“Look,” Jackie tries again as she places her stack of cones on their relevant shelf like she has a thousand times before. She tries not to think about the cobweb she totally just felt brush against her hand, or the smell of Mari in her nose, so deep it almost burns. “Mari, did you know— I mean, have you ever had your heat before?”
Probably better to cut right to the chase, right? Jackie sees Mari freeze out of the corner of her eye, and bites her bottom lip, because oh, right.

Jackie is dead. Her baby is dead. She has lost everything that had ever meant something to her. She can't cope, doesn't even begin to know how. Add on the fact that they're all fucking stranded in the middle of nowhere, Shauna was having the actual worst time of her entire life. The only thing she's able to find solace in is her carvings and her writing. That's what holds her together but she's bursting at the seams, ready to implode at any moment.
Jackie is dead. Had been for months. She relives her life in memories, unsure of how long she's alone, swallowed by darkness. Something wants her back, something has ahold of her. It chokes and rips her apart just to put her back together, spits her right back up and out of the dirt. So she walks, a new purpose ahead.
