“What is it?” Will asked, flopping down on the couch as Mike avidly rifled through a cardboard box near the TV.
“You’ll… see,” He answered belatedly, sounding a little bit far away. A beat passed before he finally pulled out a black VHS box featuring a skull and bold, red lettering on the front. He held it up triumphantly. “I know you’ve wanted to watch it since it came out.”
Will’s face broke into a grin as he read the title. “Is it…”OR: Mike has a surprise for Will. Well, two surprises.

Summary
The couch creaks as Mike settles onto it, abruptly beside him. “You thought about me?”
“And mom, and Jonathan,” Will says.
“Oh, so probably Dustin and Lucas, too.” If Will didn’t know better, he’d say Mike sounds distraught by the mere idea. His lips pinch and his eyes narrow at nothing.
It thrills Will to reassure him. “Nope,” the ‘p’ popping sharply, “just you, mom, and Jonathan.”
Mike’s gulp is audible, and Will grants himself an unabashed stare at the bobbing of his friend’s throat. “Because we’re like family, sure.”
Will would roll his eyes, if he weren’t so nervous. “Robin and I aren’t dating, Mike.”

Summary
It’s tried and true, as deeply a part of him as his love of art. It’s not quite codependence or obsession; it’s more like a favorite sweater, well-worn and a little moth-eaten, but utterly comforting. It’s home, in the way so little else is.
All this to say, when Will’s first kiss finally does happen, he never expected it to taste like blood.
Mike's just a little impatient; Will hardly minds.
