    Sam’s cry ripped through the air as he sank to his knees with his brother in his arms. His mind still couldn’t grasp what had just happened, how Dean’s eyes had gone wide right before Sam reached him. Dean’s arms were iron bands around the younger man as Dean grabbed him and spun Sam around, pulling him out of the way of something he hadn’t even known was there. Dean’s face screwed up in pain as Sam glimpsed Jake behind Dean, before his brother collapsed into Sam’s arms.

    Hands wrapping even tighter around the older man, Sam felt the blood gushing from the wound in Dean’s spine and could hear the death rattle in his last few breaths as Sam tried to tell him it would be okay, he’d be okay.

    But he wasn’t.

    Sam felt the life leave his brother as a roar tore from deep inside his chest. Sinking to his knees something snapped inside him and all those switches started flipping. Sam let out another scream, filled with his rage and grief, as a shockwave blew out from where he held Dean in his arms on the ground...
