“Perhaps there is still another way out,” Damian supplied, whipping his flashlight back and forth across the very obvious dead end as if he might find something he missed the first twelve times he had surveyed the area. “Something we are not thinking of.”
“Where else are we supposed to go?” Jon sniffled, and even if Damian had expected this, Jon’s tears still sent a jolt of shock and panic through his chest. “We’re trapped… I can’t even use my powers to get us out because of the stupid red sun.” Jon punched weakly at the ground, and Damian watched him suck in a sharp pained breath.

That’s how the saying goes. Take enough punches from the universe and eventually it becomes harder and harder to pop back up, to see the worth in fighting back, to stop yourself from turning around and delivering some punches of your own.
Tim never wanted to become the villain—
“Appendicitis,” Tim breathed in disbelief. “Are you fucking kidding me?”

“She paused, giving him one last opportunity to speak up before she did. “Fine. What’s the deal with you and Tim Drake? He your ex or something?”
Robin turned back to the cabinet, hoping he could convince Cassie she was reading too much into it all. With a scoff he said, “No, I barely know the guy. I just didn’t know Kon was so obsessed with him.”
“Ahh, so it’s about Kon, then? Not Tim Drake. Come on, Rob, you’ve got the best poker face out there but you ran off to the bathroom for no reason, there’s gotta be something.”
Still looking through the cabinet, Robin squeezed his eyes shut. There was no way she could know that!”
Or: My teammate has a celebrity crush on… me?!? It’s more likely than you think!
Or, OR: The one in which Kon admires Tim Drake, but is head over heels for Robin, who has yet to reveal his identity, what could go wrong? (Lots of things, but not in this fic, in this one they’re all happy)

“See!” Jon let go of Damian’s hands and threw his arms out wide at his sides in an extravagant gesture.
Damian looked wildly unimpressed, though Jon saw the way his eyes darted back and forth, really taking in the scene around him, the rocky bank, the murky water, the sunlight spilling in from between the bright green leaves of the trees. There was a sparkle of curiosity in his eyes, clearly Jon had piqued his interest.
“It’s a creek.” Is all Damian said.
