“We just got here and you’re already asking me that?” Leon huffed, shoulder checking the slightly shorter man before stepping forward. “We haven't even done anything or gone anywhere yet.”

“Cloud,” Leon huffed, turning to face the other. “There’s no going back. I knew this when I agreed to help the other Aerith, Aeris. You knew this when you decided to ignore both of their requests and you joined me anyway. This world- this reality - needs help."
Kindom Hearts' Leon and Cloud come to the world of Final Fantasy VII Remake/Rebirth at the behest of the spirit of Aeris from Final Fnatasy VII OG to make important changes to the timeline. Their primary objective? Save Aerith Gainsborogh. But along the way they might as well save some others while they're helping to fix things, right?

The lilting voice shocked away his headache in a matter of seconds, making him flinch. Taking a few more seconds to process who that voice belonged to, he turned and found Aerith sitting by his side, happy as ever. The light, teasing smile on her face made the back of his neck prickle in a cold sweat. Shocks ran down his spine, making him sit up straight, a crawling feeling that something was wrong.
What could be wrong, though? It was just Aerith — she always knew how to bring a smile to his face.

Summary
It was his new creation story; the becoming of something not quite alien, not quite human. Not that he realized it, until they reached the Northern Crater, and Cloud thought he had nothing at all. Most specifics of his memories were blurry, but there was the dried blood caked on the scalpel and pliers, and how they reeked. And how often Hojo reached for them, unraveling the strands of his genes, leaving Cloud baffled over where he began and ended.
Midgar is under siege thanks to Hojo and Shinra's actions. All the while, Cloud contends with his identity, and what he does or does not have say in with it.
