Summary
For a second, Jonathan stopped in his tracks and considered going somewhere else but shook it off. It was more or less his house and his shed. And he didn’t want to appear like he didn’t like Steve. He … well, he didn’t like Steve as such, but he didn’t dislike him either and the awkward truce they had between them was not reason enough to actively avoid each other.
Jonathan and Steve share a moment of understanding that neither of them really anticipated but clearly need.

At eight-fifteen, Steve gets rudely woken by someone grabbing his arm and yanking him out of the bed. That alone would be remarkably terrifying, but since he went to bed alone in an empty house, with his parents not expected until at least next week, it’s reason enough to scream like a scared piglet and grab around for the bat he has stored next to his bed.
It’s not there.
This is only the start to a couple of an insane amount of horrible, terrible, very bad days for Steve.
