Summary
Most everyone Merlin knew warned him that nothing good would ever come of his little (though astonishingly requited) crush on the Lady Morgana. Merlin was, as of now, finding himself in agreement, as she made her dramatic return to Camelot one year after Merlin had attempted to kill her with hemlock. But when Merlin discovers the child, his child, he can say at least one very good thing, as well many more exceedingly ridiculous and complicated things, certainly had come of it.
Featuring pervasive passive aggression and a general sense of melancholy, an extended and distinctly non peaceful political process to legalising magic, a not entirely willing family trip to Ealdor, and some foreign diplomatic negotiations somewhat lacking in diplomacy.

Summary
“Father, with all due respect, you can’t honestly be suggesting that Merlin freed the Great Dragon?”
-
It could certainly be described as a rather bad week, between Morgana's kidnapping, and a dragon all but levelling the lower town and making a good effort on the upper, not to mention Merlin's subsequent arrest. Arthur's new orders; to leave Merlin behind in order to meet with the not-so-last dragonlord and attempt a negotiation with his manservant's life as the lure, only feels to be the natural continuation for the entirely unwelcome developments.

Summary
A hand grasped his arm, sending a brief thrill down Merlin's nerves as he was forced around to face the person behind him. Armour gleamed in the firelight: supple chainmail glinted, and the solid iron of a pauldron curved lovingly over one broad shoulder. The length of a sword blade separated them. The point hovered, steady and sure, over Merlin's heart, braced to run him through, but he did not care about any of that. He was too busy drinking in the sight of the man before him.
He could never forget him, no matter how many centuries had passed.
'Arthur?'
When Merlin ultimately fails in his destiny, the fading remnants of magic that linger in the modern world fling him not just back in time, but sideways as well. He ends up in a Camelot where all his friends are alive, well and aware of his magic.
He ends up in a Camelot where his alternate self died almost a year ago.
Can he, Arthur and their friends still forge the golden age he was once promised, or will grief and suspicion tear them apart?

Summary
A year into Merlin becoming Court Sorcerer to King Arthur, King Lot of Essetir put a farmers' rebellion to the sword and burned a swathe into the North as punishment. Revenge for Hunith's death stirred up the embers of an old, forgotten fire: Once, there were dragonlords guarding the Old North. Merlin had not been born a farmer's son, and Uther's sins were never going to rest in peace. Arthur had a debt to pay. With Essetir in ruins, Lot was a dead man walking whether he shoved Excalibur into his black heart or not.
And it all started with the words that history would remember, one distant, smoking day: "If you love me, Sire, let me go to war."Series
