“You… could come with me?” the lavender-scaled merman offers quietly. “To my home. There’s this huge island, with tons of run-down buildings and a huge statue of a human. It’s not too far from the reef I live in. I suppose I’d have to sneak you out of here though—do you have a boat? If I meet you here another night, I could-” the merperson cuts himself off, as if realizing how forward the statement is. “That is. If you want to go. You just.. It seems like you aren’t very happy here, based on what you said. You’re helping me get out of somewhere I’m not happy, It seems unfair to not help you.”
Scott stares at the merman for a long moment. A home with Avid: far from war, far from both the Red and Blue Kingdoms, far from Barrowhill. Thinking about it… he doesn’t dislike the idea. Not at all. In fact, he considers it for a long moment. Everyone he’s talked to agrees that his circumstances were unfair, but none of them had done anything about it. Everyone except Avid.
It’s a tempting offer.

Instead of going to the dungeon with everyone else, Scott and Avid stay behind in the Night Market because Avid can't make it up the hill. Scott comforts Avid and Avid offers Scott an escape.

chat. chat hear me out. I have a new arcane obsession and I'm on my monthly marauders obsession (period). this was born as a result of my brainrot. give me your thoughts and help me in the comments PLEASE.
ok so this is like an au where the marauders characters, specifically the versions from atyd (we love you MsKingbean89) replace characters from arcane. some of the relationships are slightly altered, and some roles are added to make the story feel better to me, and none of the arcane ships really apply. some of where I placed the characters is kinda wonky but I think most of them are pretty good.
first chapter is a better explanation than I can do here, but after that it's one shots of arcane but with the marauders/marauders cast

Steve nods jerkily. “It’s— it’s weird to see your hands without the rings,” he blurts, and then stares down at his own fidgeting hands, appalled at his lack of restraint.
Eddie’s eyes seem to darken further, and he gets that amused, almost mean tilt to his lips that Steve shouldn’t find attractive. “Oh yeah, Harrington? You miss them or something?”
Steve’s breath stutters. This is why he asked Eddie over, this is exactly the topic he was hoping to somehow segue into, but his nerves are so strong he can almost taste them. “Yeah,” he breathes, and it comes out hushed and ragged. He wonders if Eddie can hear the desire in his tone. “Yeah, I’ve thought about them a lot.”

Pyro’s eyes snapped open to darkness.
A cold, suffocating black that pressed against the walls of the stone crypt. For a moment he didn’t breathe. Couldn’t. Dust choked his throat, clinging to his tongue like ash.
He sat up too fast. Pain shot through his ribs. The air tasted like rot and wet limestone. The walls were damp, their mortar crumbling, flakes of stone littering the floor like a long‑rotted snowfall.
His heartbeat - slow and unfamiliar - thudded once, twice.
Panic followed.OR

“Yes,” Viktor finally interrupted. "I'll do it."
"Why is this necessary?" Jayce asks, staring into the red eyes of the Sith Lord's mask. "Why is it necessary to blow up buildings, start battles, kill innocents, deploy weapons, sacrifice troops?”
“Because it’s you, Jayce!” Viktor yells, and the trees shake in the aftershock.
Jayce and Viktor grow up together at Luke Skywalker's Jedi Academy, but are destined to become bitter enemies on opposite sides of the Force. When the time comes, Viktor is a Sith Lord whose plans threaten the entire galaxy, and Jedi Knight Jayce Talis may be the only one who can stop him.
