Summary
Lucifer has tracked his movements; he has seen how he fills a room with dramatic flourishes and well-timed laugh tracks. He’s seen him squeeze shoulders and press his face close, coo at others with condescending head-pats and insulting taps to the tips of noses. The face Vaggie had made when Alastor bent over and kissed the back of her hand in a sick travesty of gentlemanly grace almost makes him laugh out loud at the memory. He covers up the sound with a small clearing of his throat. The pure, unadulterated disgust on her features was more than enough to ensure a repeat performance when she least expected it.
That’s what Alastor did it for. The reaction. The control.
Putting aside Niffty, there was only one other exception that he has noticed in his time at the hotel.
Himself.

Summary
He looks around his room, at the evidence of Lucifer’s presence in his life. The spare coat near the door and the drawer full of identical bowties. He walks to the bed they share, sitting down slowly. He thinks of what he can’t see. The tiny rubber duck that sits on the edge of his bathtub, a vanity full of hair products and face creams, and the two long, flowy bathrobes on hooks.
“Nope! I like yours! Looks like you’ll just have to get another one,” Lucifer had said with a huge grin on his face when he offered to get him his own robe instead of continuing to steal the demon's.
Alastor leans back, flat onto the bed with his feet on the floor, and thinks.

Summary
Something in Crowley snaps. He’s hearing what his heart needs, what it’s wanted to hear for ages, yet instead of long-sought relief all he feels is anger so bright and hot, he feels like he might catch on fire. A growl rips from his throat, unbidden and he stalks out of the room, out of the house, out into the raging storm.
It is no match to the storm brewing inside.
He doesn’t bother counting.
It will do nothing.
Lightning passes through him and he roars along. It hits a tree nearby and the emotional release only leaves him all the more empty.
Even now he can feel Aziraphale’s presence, watchful, careful. His angel in despair. But still looking out for him.
-(or; Aziraphale uncovers what Heaven was actually trying to accomplish by appointing him as a leader, grovels and gets his priorities straight. And the world does not end this time around either.)
