    Fun, casual, safe (safer, at least, than the alternatives) - nothing more than that. They both wanted to believe it. And they did... mostly.

    Until they're standing on a rooftop in Vegas, 20 years old. Ilya knows he's being terrible, knows Shane is confused. He doesn't know what he should do about it. And then Shane is leaving, and he can't - he can't - leave when Ilya hasn't even touched him yet, hasn't told him how good he looked up on the stage.

    Drunk and young and stupid, Shane and Ilya choose to be honest - just a little bit. To lean into each other, instead of apart.

    “Yes,” Shane says softly. “Him.”

    Hayden lets out a guttural groan. “Jesus, man. You couldn’t at least top him?”

    Over a decade prior, Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov's relationship kicked off in a nearly empty ice rink, surrounded by cameras and directors that wanted a piece of a rivalry that was sure to take the hockey world by storm for the foreseeable future, filming a commercial to promote their newfound stardom.

    Now, out and safe, the topic comes up again, and a certain Ottawa social media manager (the GOAT Harris, of course) has the idea to revisit and recreate said commercial as a way to reminisce and bring the world back to the couple's roots.

    TLDR: Shane and Ilya recreate the commercial that started the whole thing, albeit with a lot more love and a lot more nostalgia (+ The aftermath and onward).

    Harris, who was sitting next to Shane, nudged him with his foot. “Yeah, I mean, it’s not kinky kinky unless Shane went out and bought, like, a full-on sex swing or something crazy like–”

    Harris stopped talking because Shane had frozen. Completely frozen. His glass halted halfway to his lips. His eyes went wide and fixed on a point on the far wall. The blush that had been a soft pink bloomed into a scarlet tide that crept from his neckline to the roots of his hair.

    Ilya, watching him, threw his head back and burst out laughing.

    (or, 5 times Ottawa Centaurs found out their sweet Canadian cinnamonroll is a freak and 1 time they realized that Hollanov's freaks are matched)
