April, 1993 - Los Angeles, CAA decade is 10 years, but what's a good word to use to express seven? Eight and a half years? Nine? Give or take a month or two? Give or take all the time that goes unacknowledged? Or the sands of time falling right now in front of their eyes?
It's nice anyways, to be as precise as possible when something is referred to over and over again.A near-decade then between two beginnings.

Summary
Vecna is dead. Fried crispy, by all accounts. But that doesn't mean the Upside Down is done yet.
Steve, however, has other problems. Now that the Party made it out with everyone alive, his brain has developed the habit of reminding him that Eddie Munson exists. And that Steve might have a capital 'T' thing for him. A thing that is not capital 'P' platonic. Which he can totally handle. It's not like he'll do anything stupid, Steve knows better. Call him: Steve 'Rational' Harrington.
Maybe he should be thankful that they get a few months to figure out life again before it all goes to shit. Until he gets the phone call that drags him into the thick of it again. But maybe this is the last time. God, Steve really hopes this is the last time.
(OR: A 'what if...' Season 5, where Eddie Munson is a little worse for wear but a-okay and Steve Harrington has time to consider a few things)

10/10 this fic legit has it all. Cute relationship, good build up, amazing story beyond the pairing. Super satisfying ending - everything felt nicely wrapped, not dragging on but not cut off either. Loved this!

Summary
When Steve gets trapped in the Upside Down, Vecna offers him a deal: become lieutenant of the monster armies and gain some of Vecna’s power, in exchange for being the bait to lure his friends back to rescue him. Steve takes the deal, believing wholeheartedly in the Party’s ability to save him and finally kill Vecna, but discovers quickly that his power to infiltrate the memories and dreams of people in the real world is very limited; in fact, he can only visit one person in his new monster form.
Thus begins Steve’s haunting of Eddie Munson, who, coincidentally, has been in love with Steve since they started secretly hooking up after a Halloween party in 1984.
Or: Steve is Kas, and also Eddie's secret boyfriend.

Summary
Billy laughs a little louder, tosses his head back and everything. “So,” he starts, shaking his head, “you don't question Jim Hopper getting his dick wet with a guy, but you question me?”
And Steve’s whole neck flushes, mouth going wide and brows furrowing in confusion while he stutters around an answer. “I mean,” and he licks his lips, “I guess I just…didn't really think about it. I thought maybe Hopper and Mrs. Byers might end up together one day, but– but I didn't think about it, really. About who he might– might like being with, I mean.”
Billy hums. Mulls over what Steve just said as if it makes any sense at all. It doesn't, really, because, “So you thought about who I might like being with, huh?”
