It’s strange, seeing Satoru this vulnerable, but he takes Satoru’s hand, squeezes it tight, and leads him down the hall. He makes sure not to let go even when they get to the exhibit. He squeezes Satoru’s hand again reassuringly. Satoru squeezes back.
What a coincidence, Suguru thinks as he watches the fish swim around, that he doesn’t have a soulmate, either. What a coincidence his soul mark was a betta fish, too.
Or: Geto Suguru is married man who doesn't believe in soulmates. Neither he nor his wife have one, after all.
And then he meets Gojo Satoru and everything changes.

Summary
Kyōraku can't fall asleep. It's past midnight when he tends to the paperwork, despite his mind wandering anywhere but on the documents. He recalls the faces, his mistakes, and all the guilt that piled up throughout the centuries. Suicide doesn't sound bad when compared to persisting. But then his cure, Ukitake, enters the room, and everything lightens up, at least momentarily—until he remembers he'll lose him, too.

Soap sighed, pausing in tying his boots. “I know I don’t have to see her,” he replied, straightening his back and looking at Ghost. “But it feels…wrong not to. Like I should give her one more chance.”
Ghost grunted, noncommittal. “More than she deserves.”
Soap gave him a sad smile, and reached out to run his fingers through Simon’s curls. “Thank you for carin’ about me,” he said simply. The words startled Ghost and made a blush appear on his cheeks and the bridge of his nose.
“Shut it.”
Soap laughed brightly and went back to tying his boots.
