Summary
Six months after winning Bucky Barnes a congressional seat in the House of Representatives, you decide to represent Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine in her impeachment trial against your team's wishes. Now on opposite sides of a legal battle, you and Bucky work toward a professional and personal resolution that both of you can live with.
This 2nd installment in the bucky/campaign manager!reader series takes place during the events of Thunderbolts* from Reader and Bucky's POV. A much more fluffy ending than the campaign. Watch these crazy kids make up and wade through their weird and terrifying shame rooms to get to each other. Still basically a Scandal crossover, but not really.

If you enjoyed Scandal and Olitz then you'll love the dynamic between Bucky and Campaign Manager!Reader. Quite a few scenes and characters are inspired by the show. I would've done a crossover, but I just couldn't bring myself to write Bucky/Olivia Pope. That's Fitz's girl. This entire work is complete. I'll be updating chapters weekly (around Thursdays/Fridays).

Y/N falls through ice hunting what Sam thinks is a water sprite but is actually a juvenile tizheruk. He saves her life, but it doesn’t stop her from giving him shit about being loud and wrong. Now soaked to the bone in freezing temperatures, the two seek refuge in a cozy abandoned lake cabin.

“Try not to fight the shivering. It’s just your body trying to get warm,” he advises, pulling you in closer.
“Here you go,” you tease, your voice surprisingly soft despite your best efforts. “Mansplaining shivering like you’re the only kid who paid attention in biology.” You look up at him, expecting another exasperated sigh, maybe even an eye roll, but the expression that greets you makes your breath catch in your throat. His gaze is already fixed on you, studying your face intently, eyes narrowing in a way that makes him look clever, almost like a fox. They suddenly fall to your lips, the same lips he breathed life into barely an hour ago, then slowly back up to your y/e/c eyes. The air shifts in the room entirely and you suddenly feel the heat of your blood rushing to your face. -Well at least I’m all warmed up now.-

Read this 13 years ago and it just popped in my brain after a tumblr poll about the first fic you read on ao3. I’m gonna reread it again after all this time. I remember it being well written and a little steamy but not much else about the plot or the ending so it’ll feel like the first time all over again.
