Summary
The other man steps in front of him. He's a shade taller than Bruce, with runner's thighs shown to perfection by the jeans and broad shoulders, and a shaggy mop of curly jet-black hair. He also has the most beautiful eyes Bruce has ever seen – wide and indigo-blue, the color of the summer sky at sunset – framed by ridiculously long lashes that are offset by a sharp jawline and ludicrously full lips.
Bruce can't stop staring. He feels like he's been gut-punched, and left wheezing on the floor.
Or: A chance encounter over a mug of spiked hot chocolate could be the start of a beautiful relationship.

"Seven dollars for a loaf of wheat bread?" Clark could hear his voice crack on the last word. Holy moly, that was obscene.
"Is that a lot?"
Was that a lot? Jeez, he was way too young to have a heart attack over bread prices. "Yes, Bruce, that's a lot," he said. Wheat bread cost two bucks at Coogler's, and it tasted just fine to Clark. What was so special about the bread at Organic Eats that they had to charge five whole extra dollars for it?

It hadn’t been difficult to convince Bruce that this is a trap--no, he’d readily agreed to that--the leaving it well enough alone and letting Clark handle it he’d argued against--loudly. Clark can’t deny that he’s probably right--that whatever trap lies on this ship is almost certainly going to be laced with kryptonite and enough firepower to end his life once he’s weakened.
That doesn't mean he has to like hanging back and watching Bruce walk into a trap that's meant for him, and once it's sprung, he likes it even less.
