Summary
Thanatos sees it now. His time with Zagreus gave rise to more than just reverent adoration, far more than what awkward confessions and quiet, gentle lovemaking could slake. There is so much more that lives inside of him, feelings that don't have words and those that do (but should not be said out loud). Ugly, raw feelings that burn him up from the inside out, as impossible to control as they are to deny.
And Thanatos can no longer do either.

He's late, he realizes.
There's a lot of blood here, he realizes a moment later. Not the blackened stains of shades temporarily banished, but the dark-red and glistening of mortal blood, spattered in desperate arcs across the grass, staining the water where the River Lethe pools. Across the chamber, it shifts to a trail of blood, the imprint of bare footprints burned into the darkening liquid.
There. There, slumped with his back against a green-glowing infernal trove, an ethereal sword buried in his chest, a pool of blood slowly spreading beneath him—Zagreus, Prince of the Underworld, his warmth and light so faded that Thanatos didn't even realize he was still in the chamber.

He holds out his hand between them.
Tamaki’s head turns. He looks at the hand, then up at Kyoya. His face is uncertain, confused, and so Kyoya pours everything into his answering gaze.
Eyes wide, Tamaki takes his hand. When Kyoya lets him, tension rushes out of him, like a sigh he hadn’t known he’d been holding. He brings Kyoya’s hand up to his face, closing his eyes, and breathes out quietly down Kyoya’s wrist.
Kyouya matches his fingers to the curve of Tamaki’s cheek and says, “You can have more than this.”
