Feldspar struggled to breathe. The heavy aumaua wouldn’t budge. She looked about for Calisca to help and saw her body crumpled in an unnatural heap. Closing her eyes, Feldspar turned her face away and willed down the nausea. Voice weak she called, “‘Wain? ‘Wain?”
With a questioning low he appeared in the mouth of the cave. Feldspar did cry then, beyond grateful he was a coward. “‘Wain. Here. help me out.”
