Summary
It was the summer the cicadas swarmed every tree trunk in the neighborhood. Not his old, familiar neighborhood he knew, but the new one, with tall trees lining the streets that cast long shadows in the evening, and the house with the red fence. When his mother was alive, they lived in a grey house that had no fence at all, but it was the summer of the cicadas and the new house they moved into after his mother had died. He was six, and his mother was dead, and all of a sudden they lived in a new house, in a new part of town, and it was like the last six years of his life were a dream, not even a memory but a figment of his imagination.
It was there, in the front yard of the house with the red fence, that he first met Duo Maxwell.
Heero Yuy was a quiet, lonely boy, living in a new house, in a new neighborhood, with a dad who barely paid attention to him. But everything changed when Duo Maxwell, the boy from down the street, hopped over his fence and into his life.
A love story of two boys who grow up together.
