He whistled and walked around, noticing that there was little dust. Some of the surfaces had a thin layering of the stuff, but... this place felt weirdly lived in. Dishes were in the sink, and one of the cushions on the couch was sunken in. The azure hoglet's ear twitched at a shuffling sound coming from down the hall.
He crept down the hallway, ears perked, and stopped at the far right door. He could hear more shuffling and someone talking. Suddenly, the door burst open and something collided with his stomach. Sonic yelped and dropped to the floor, landing hard on his back.
And hovering over him was a tiny, golden fox, wielding a screwdriver with his face set in an angry snarl.
Or: Sonic needs to find a place to sleep, so he goes to an abandoned cabin... or so he thinks.

"What the hell are you doing?!" Shadow pushed himself from the desk to look where Sonic sat between his legs. His cheeks flushed at the... odd positioning he'd found himself in.
Sonic grabbed his leg and pulled him back towards him, the office chair squeaking as it moved. He winked up and replied, "Making you less bored." His paw rubbed at the bulge between Shadow's thighs and purred.
Shadow's head made a loud, resounding thunk on the desk.

Summary
Sonic struggles to grapple through taking care of Tails and the recent trauma of ending things with his ex, Jet. Just when he thought he'd be alone forever, a black and red hedgehog sweeps him off his feet and makes sure he knows he's loved.
But Jet's not gone. His possessiveness causes Sonic's paranoia to worsen, resulting in his own mental torture. Everyone thinks he's okay, but he's not.

Sonic's smile grew brighter- impossible at such an hour, but he digressed- and replied with a chipper tone, "I said, can I hold it?" He even had the nerve to look proud of himself for such a question. Shadow's not sure if he was impressed or disgusted.
"...No?"
"Ugh, you're no fun!" Sonic threw his hands up in defeat.

Summary
One of the civilians got caught in the middle. Sonic rushed towards them, full of panic, and shouted at them to move. Unfortunately, he wasn't fast enough as the gun whined loudly, the laser pointed right at them. In the corner of his vision, a ball of golden fluff flew straight into the civilian, pushing them away, right as the gunshot.
His sneakers dug into the grass as he skidded to a stop. Everything went quiet. Shadow teleported to his side, both of them staring uselessly as smoke erupted from the spot that was shot.
When the cloud of smoke cleared, all they could see was a big crater that embedded itself into the battleground. Sonic slowly inched forward, ears perked at the sound of soft sniffling. He reached the edge and felt his jaw drop.
In the middle of the crater was a tiny, fluffy Tails.
Or: Sonic and Shadow struggle to take care of toddler-Tails while Eggman is busy fixing the machine that started this whole mess.

Maybe, in hindsight, they were a bit too confident, not bothering to call in extra reinforcements, but in their defence, it was meant to be a simple battle; hell, the Doctor himself wasn't even present. He'd just sent his robotic goons to do his bidding.
Team Sonic got there in record time, but their speed proved useless, as half the town was already turned to rubble. The bots weren't even hard to beat; they were just so destructive. After the last of the badniks were flattened into piles of metal, they started to help the villagers. No one was badly injured, just some scrapes and bruises. All was well.
Until the second alert started frantically beeping on their communicators.

After a series of attacks by Dr Eggman, Sonic is exhausting himself trying to help as many villages as he can. He struggles to juggle his responsibility to the people with his responsibility to Tails.
As Shadow said, though, it takes a village to raise a child, and Sonic finally learns to lean on his village.Series

Because I hate them and they make me sick and I'm apparently incapable of being normal about the things I like.
