The toddler on his hip reaches out her grubby hands for the cake batter. The seven-year-old hiding behind his legs waves shyly at the retreating form. The new girl, who has to be around ten at most, tilts her head at the cook as though to say ‘yeah, right.’

Zoro acquires a lot of children in his travels as the world’s strongest. What was he supposed to do? Bring them with him?
Sanji is adamant about the fact that the Baratie: All Blue is no place for any of the children Zoro drops off.
Zeff is just excited to finally have grandkids running around.
(Alternatively, Zoro is deadset on making Sanji a single father).

Sanji sighed and curled his fingers around Shusui’s hilt, and for a moment, in the moonlight, he looked like a statue animated by an unknown god, wrought from living marble. Zoro remembered – the frantic sound of his voice, the gunfire-rapid thump of his heartbeat, the wild, animal terror in his eyes.
Let him go, he’d told Kuma, trembling with the pain of standing on a shattered leg. Take me instead.
Hell of a side effect, Zoro thought, before passing out. -

“Say, Robin-san,” Brook starts, “How long have Sanji-san and Zoro-san been together?”
Robin’s eyebrows shoot up, and she leans forward, hand on her chin. “How long have they been together?” she repeats, smiling like she knows more than she lets on. “What an interesting question.”
Brook has the wrong idea about Zoro and Sanji’s relationship and, somehow, no one ever corrects him.

Brook would put it down to a good spare, had it not been for the obvious bruise on the side of Sanji’s neck. The rest of the crew seems to get the picture, too, Nami sucking in a sharp breath and Usopp and Chopper muttering between themselves.
Sanji and Zoro remain none the wiser, the two of them bicker all the way up the gangplank, throwing insults all the while and completely oblivious to the shocked attention of the entire crew. It’s only when they’re on the top of the deck that either of them register the eerie silence.
Zoro stops in his tracks first, looks at Sanji, looks at Sanji’s neck, then snaps his jaw tight like he’s holding in a comment. His singular eye scans the crew and his feet root in place as he waits for the other shoe to drop.

Despite some of Usopp's more out-there crack theories, Zoro and Sanji are not, in fact, secretly in love. They really do just happen not to get along- which leads to what may appear as the bickering of an old couple and the close contact of two men trying to rip each other's heads off.
That is, until a fortune teller indubitably predicts their shared future.

Zoro is nothing if not a good protector. But when it's Sanji's turn to receive that protection, he feels conflicted. Sanji spent his early life wishing someone would protect him. But that was years ago, and he doesn't need protecting anymore. Certainly not by Zoro.
Or, Sanji falls overboard, and Zoro jumps in after him.

Zoro’s voice lurches him out of his thoughts and Sanji quickly hurries out into the street, his face no doubt blazing a vibrant red as Zoro’s footsteps echo behind him, his hand firmly twisted into Sanji’s shirt, his knuckles gently brushing against the exposed skin of his back.
He doesn’t let go until they get back to the Sunny, and Sanji finds it’s only then he can breathe again.
Or, post Wano, Zoro seems to be everywhere Sanji looks... and he can't quite figure out why.

“Anyway,” Zoro continued amid Sanji’s silence, “I’m not going to die.”
Sanji made a scoffing sound. “You can’t just decide that, asshole,” he said, tying off the thread. He trailed his fingertips over the jagged seam, checking for any imperfections. “You can’t cheat death.”
“We’ll see.”
To Sanji, Zoro is an enigma. An infuriating one, but one he is drawn to nonetheless. For as much self-assurance Zoro appears to have, Sanji has about as much self-doubt. If he can just understand what goes on inside that mossy head of his, maybe he can figure a few things out about himself as well.
Discovering that there might be something other than rivalry brewing between them, is something Sanji isn't quite prepared for.
(Rated M for explicit language, canon-typical violence and sexual content for later chapters).

“You know what?” Sanji tells the room at large, a cigarette clamped firmly between his teeth as he tries to steady his nerves, while simultaneously waiting for his impending doom. “I’m just going to come right out and say it, this is entirely my own fault.”
His companion stirs next to him, his shoulders rising and falling to show he’d heard Sanji, even though his sole remaining eye stays focused on the image in front of them. “That tracks,” he says easily. “Most things usually are.”
