Summary
The Yiling Patriarch is a living legend—a terrifying, ancient force of nature, dispensing punishment or reward with implacable, indifferent fairness.
Wei Wuxian, on the other hand, is a weird but oddly charming guy who wanders around the cultivation world making fun of people's art and mooching food from sect leaders.
It really upsets people to find out that they're the same person.

Summary
The second boy laughed. “Madam Jiang surely hated him, makes you think just because of that, the rumors are true about her husband.” He said with raised eyebrows, causing the both of them to try and cover their laughter.
“Oh definitely; did you ever see the way she treated him in public?” He tried to muffle his laughter. “I’d pick death over being around that old crone anyway. Oh well, it makes more sense for him to stay behind to save them. I mean…Wei Wuxian is – was just a servant in the end. Not like he was that important enough to-”
Lan Wangji didn’t know the exact moment he stepped out from behind the bookshelves, but it was hard to care about lapse of judgement now. He watched as the color drain from the other teens’ faces, both looking at each other accusatory.
“What?”Or what if Wei Wuxian stayed to defend Lotus Pier instead of Madam Yu?

Summary
“Is he dead?” A voice asked nervously. It was unfamiliar to Xue Yang. It sounded like a young girl, maybe. “He hasn’t moved in a while now…”
“No, thankfully,” A very, very familiar voice answered. Some pressure was wrapped around his wrist. “I feel his heart beating still.”
Xue Yang’s eyes snapped open. There, inches from his face, was Xiao Xingchen.
Xue Yang gaped at him. How did he find him? Had he been looking for Xue Yang so he could personally kill him for what he did to Song Lan? Fine, let him kill Xue Yang, but it would be preferable if they could at least fight to the death. Once Xue Yang could feel his legs, he would proudly fight Xiao Xingchen and die with a grin on his face.
“Are you awake?” Xiao Xingchen asked, his fingers lightly cupping Xue Yang’s shoulder. Xiao Xingchen had a stripe of white cloth covering his eyes, looking perfect, not even a strand of hair out of place. The bastard.
Or, What if Xue Yang didn’t have time to trick Xiao Xingchen into killing innocents?

Summary
Nie Mingjue opens his mouth to dismiss it – then stops. His hand stills on the desk. That is not something Lan Xichen should know. Not unless he’s been counting.
“Since when do you track my sleep?” he asks. The question is light, but it doesn’t feel like one.
“I don’t,” Lan Xichen says, and the pause that follows is brief. “It’s just something I’ve noticed.”
OR: Nie Mingjue returns after a year from a business trip abroad to find Lan Xichen has been waiting - literally. Airport cars, twice-brewed tea, congee left in his fridge. Lan Xichen notices everything. Nie Mingjue pretends he doesn't.
