How do you ask this sort of thing? Kanji tries to articulate hey if you're a guy do you still like guys or is it girls or some other thing somehow and is it related or is that a separate deal, fumbles this halfway out his mouth, and somehow comes out with, “Do you have, uh, feelings?”
“What?” Naoto asks, too befuddled to even look offended.

so naoto's a girl, and kanji's a boy. that means it's fine if he asks her up to the roof, right? wait he hasn't even confessed yet why does she suddenly look so uncomfortable

“Minoura! Where’s my crime scene? Did they really think a ghost was stealing their stuff? Bah, people are so stupid, what would a ghost do with jewelry?”
“They think a ghost is the culprit?” Poe wonders, frowning.
“Stupid,” Ranpo agrees.
“Did you both get it all out of your systems?” Minoura sighs, “let’s talk inside. Just– the wife is a little shaken with everything that’s going on, so.”
“Of course, we won’t comment on how foolish that conclusion was,” Poe nods solemnly, “people can be excused some absurdities in the throes of emotion, I believe.”
“No promises,” Ranpo pushes past them, cheerfully slipping inside.

"... Maybe not, but…" His friend lowers his voice, furrowing his brow in thought. "You're curious though, aren't you?"
On the surface, Kazuma has no interest in van Zieks' personal life, nor does he indulge in gossip about his superiors. At least, he tries not to. But this is… different. Oddly enough, this sort of mundane rumour is the exact opposite of what he's grown accustomed to; workplace chatter about relationships and marriage feels positively ridiculous when compared to the usual talk of corruption and murder. Ryunosuke is right. It does feel weird, even if it is just because van Zieks is being accused of marrying someone he just met instead of the usual legal misconduct. And he would be lying if he denied his friend's accusation.--
In attempting to untangle the truth behind his superior's sudden engagement, Kazuma finds himself untangling his own relationships - with others, himself and the world around him - and it soon becomes clear they are more complicated than he'd ever realised.
