Summary
Jaskier had climbed the trail up to the keep before with Geralt and it had definitely taken a lot less time. (The Witchers themselves called it ‘the killer’, and they had the nerve to call Jaskier dramatic). But Geralt was only pretending he wasn’t ill, and Jaskier himself was admittedly tired and sore and hungry again. The bread and dried fruit they’d bought for lunch with their last orrens barely made a dent in it.
After a hard year, Jaskier and Geralt head up to Kaer Morhen for the winter to rest and recover. But they aren’t the only guests, and Jaskier rummages around in everybody’s closets until he finds the ghosts.

Which is mostly accounted to Lambert and Yennefer, but Geralt will never pass up an opportunity to make Jaskier get pissy enough to start throwing bacon. Geralt grunts and gets a better hold on Jaskier’s waist, tugging at him. “Come here.”
Jaskier laughs, a quick, bright sound that startles out of him in a way that warms Geralt completely. He puts up some resistance, regardless. “No, no no no, I’m not done yet.”
“I can tell you what happens,” Geralt says as he manages to get him down to where he can hook his chin on his shoulder.

Summary
Jason didn’t know when it started. If he thought about it, he remembered the bright light that surrounded his mom in her last days. After that, he noticed the way some people lit up, outlined in a growing brightness that emitted from the edges of their beings. The brighter the individual, the closer they were to death.
At the parties that Bruce insisted on dragging him to, he expected the dim light from the tired old businessmen who drank too much and were limping closer to their ends, glowing a little more every time Jason saw them.
What he did not expect was for the 12-year-old neighbor kid to light up like a damn Christmas tree the second Jason laid his eyes on him.
