Summary
Without Thad there to dissuade him over the summer, Bart had started pretending there wasn’t a ladder down from his top bunk. He’d just leap straight off the side and land wherever gravity decided to take him.
Twice, it’s ended with Bart in the middle of Thad’s ritual circle. His pajama pants are charred near the hem from yesterday, when he landed too close to the candles.
This time he’s just mindlessly smudging Thad’s runes and doesn’t even have the good sense to get set on fire about it.
“Do you mind.” Thad says. Loudly. “I was using that.”
_Chaos magic is the hardest to learn, but the easiest to master. Anything can be achieved, as long as the magician believes — truly, unflinchingly — that it can be done.
