He can do this. It’s just a date. He’s not obligated to go on a second date. Or have sex. Even if the woman did break Buck’s bachelor auction record by spending ten grand. On a date. With Eddie. He can do this. He can. It’ll be fine.
Eddie absolutely cannot do this.
He gets to his feet, ready to flee, and runs directly into his date.
“Woah, easy there, big guy.” She presses him back down in the direction of his chair and Eddie’s knees buckle. “You all right? You kinda look like you’re gonna be sick. Do I need to find a bucket? I might be able to haul a trash can over here if it’s not bolted down. Oh! Wait! Better idea!” She digs through the purse on her shoulder and pulls out a large silicone snack bag. There’s some melted chocolate and a few nuts stuck to the inside. “Here. This should do.”
Eddie has a sage green silicone snack bag in his hands. The material is sturdy, looks like it holds up well to repeated washing and abuse. He’s going to have to unswallow his tongue and ask her where she got it. Buck will want to know.
Eddie opens his mouth—
“I don’t want to have sex with you,” comes out.

You’d have to try a lot harder than that.” Buck’s lips are against his a moment later and Eddie sinks into the lush kiss eagerly, wanting to soak up every last bit of Buck before he folds himself down and ships himself off to El Paso to be a dutiful son.

He'd been slated for three fights tonight, and this is his last one. Sweat is rolling down his back, and his body is probably going to ache in the morning, but he can't feel any of it yet because of the adrenaline.
Not only as he already fought twice tonight, he'd also won both matches, and he doesn't feel like stopping. His limbs are still loose, there's energy still sparking through his veins, and the fury that he's been trying to expel all night is still firmly settled behind his breastbone, tendrils winding up his throat as if to choke him.
He almost feels bad for whoever he's about to climb into the ring with."
