    Summary

This time, Mike doesn’t protest about his hand being fine, just obediently shuffles over to the stove and leans against the counter beside it, nudging the heat down a couple notches with a knuckle. Will grabs a clean knife—a serrated one, this time—from the block by the cutting boards and starts slicing up the remaining half of the tomato. He gets three and a half slices in before Mike says, in a slightly odd tone, “Hey, Will.”
Will is busy scooping the sliced tomato into a bowl, so he just tilts his head in acknowledgement. “Hmm?”
    “Wanna get married?”

    Summary

Love is a funny thing. It’s standing with a girl in a desert after a crippling battle and wondering how am I going to tell her? It’s sitting next to a boy in a van while he lies to you and thinking oh, how am I going to tell him?

Mike’s not sure which is harder - telling someone you don’t love them or telling someone that you do. He supposes it depends on selfishness; if it's worse to break someone else’s heart or to offer your own up to be shattered.

He supposes he’s going to find out soon enough.

Or: the one with a boy made of too much fear and too little hope and, just maybe, enough love to make it all worth it anyway.

    Summary

Mike glances down at the wet fabric of his sweatshirt and grimaces. “Fair enough.” He squeezes Will’s hand. “Just think warm thoughts, okay?”
Sometimes Mike is disturbingly similar to Will’s mother. “Thinking,” he confirms, squeezing his hand back. It does help, actually - picturing the long, hot shower he’ll be taking the second they’re back at his house, followed by hot cocoa, and dry clothes, and cuddling with Mike under several layers of blankets until the bone-deep cold seeps out of them both, and-
“Whoa,” Mike says abruptly, frowning. “Holy shit? What was that?”

Mike and Will get caught in the rain, but luckily Will knows just how to warm them up.

    Summary

Mike’s hand, which is still brushing Will’s, shifts just slightly, and his pinky finger hooks loosely around Will’s own. Which is a lame, cliche move to get worked up over, probably, except that Will also might be forgetting how to breathe over it. “What if we split up?” he hears himself say, his voice coming out impressively even considering the fact that his heart is making a very valiant effort to beat right through his chest and leap into Mike’s palm, “In pairs, maybe? Mike and I can take the garage.”
“Oh, I’m sure,” Lucas mutters. Will chances a glance at Mike, whose cheeks have turned a dusty shade of pink, and who is gnawing harshly on his lower lip in what appears to be an attempt to press down a smile.

Dustin plans a murder mystery party. It goes about as well as you'd expect.

    Summary

This is what Mike’s been thinking about, in between worrying whether they’re all going to die, which definitely suggests that his priorities are a little out of whack, but he can’t help it. The past year has been bizarre, to put it lightly, but he thought that one of the better things to come out of it is that he and Will are friends again, like, real, close friends. He’s wondered, once or twice, in the midst of his own relationship’s crumbling status, whether Will has ever had any romantic entanglements, whether he plans to. Previously, Mike had ruled it out, because he thought if Will was interested in someone that he’d tell him about it, or at least not hide it. But Robin mentioned a date, and Will’s the only guy she’s been around lately except for Steve, who’s pretty obviously still hung up on Nancy (ew), so, like, what else is Mike supposed to think?

Will has made a new friend. Mike feels normal about it, really.
