Jayce begins pacing from his kitchen counter to his couch, the open floor of his one-room apartment perfect for the nervous habit. He's gotten one or two noise complaints for heavy stepping early into the morning when sleep refused to come, and the math in his brain was rolling around too fast to catch and pin down on paper. He hopes there won't be any complaints tonight. He's already a mess as it is.
"You have never made a phone call before?" The voice asks, bemused.

“Well?” he asked, his voice low.
A pause.
His eyes dragged over Clark, not with drunken lust but with something sharper.
“You here to watch… or join? Might as well make it a threesome.”
Clark choked on his own spit so hard he nearly doubled over, coughing.
It's been 5 years since both Superman and Batman began their separate crusades. Both curious but cautious.
Clark remains in Metropolis, respecting the Dark Knight's strict rule to keep metas out of Gotham. Meanwhile, Bruce is consumed with finding a balance between Batman and Bruce Wayne, determine to not repeat mistakes of the past. But it's hard to do that when he is too stubborn to accept help. Fortunately, for him Clark is just as stubborn.
Their paths cross when Clark is sent to cover a gala in Gotham, stepping into the city he's barred from. What begins as a professional obligation turns into an unforgettable collision with Gotham's once reclusive billionaire.
Or Clark and Bruce fall for each other slowly yet quickly.

Bruce considered when, exactly, the gears of his mind slipped off the mechanical path of cold and calculated focus, only to slam right into buried instinct coming alive once more, and the warmth of the bodies swarming the dance floor around him. He mused it must have been in the split second the world had seemed to shift ever so minutely in his vision, the neon becoming that much brighter, raving dancers melting together in a wave of sweat and heated breath. A softness coated his mind like he'd walked into the path of a massive cooing spiderweb.
He'd become that much more acutely aware of a large frame pressing into his back.
Yes, that was it. The change.

Lex had made Conner for a reason. The world needed protection. Insurance for if Superman died and didn't come back. For if he turned evil. Humanity deserved to be on a level playing ground. So Lex created Superboy. He created Conner for a good and noble reason.
Of course, a man didn't invest billions of dollars into a project like that without also hoping to get some personal satisfaction from it too. So Conner wasn't just Lexcorp's official hero. He wasn't even just Lex's special weapon for less than legal operations.
No. Conner was also Lex's bitch. And if he wasn't careful, that was all he'd be.
_____An answer to the question "What if Lex made Conner for freaky pervert reasons?" and also a response to a challenge by my good friend OchiMochiMochi to create a story where I don't cut anything for being too dark. Also fondly referred to as "The Intrusive Thoughts Story."
Featuring intense body mods, and an ability to choose which ship to follow in the "post Lex" portion of this story as there will be three possible "part twos" to choose from.
