Summary
There’s a myriad of voices rising and falling in the house behind him, a quiet murmur from stargazers in the field beyond. Wild’s laugh rises with the wind. It’s a bright, wheezing, joyful sound and something in Legend aches distantly.
At some point, Time comes out to stand next to him. He’s dressed casually in a home-spun tunic, face relaxed and a smile playing on his mouth as he watches Hyrule roll into Wild in the field, as their giggles fade with the crickets.
“What an adventure we’ve had,” Time says lightly— proud, even. His hand comes up to muss Legend’s hair gently. His palm is warm.

Summary
When he goes to take a step forward, his leg stalls. It takes him a moment to register the feeling of weight, of something warm and limbed. Recoiling doesn’t dislodge it and Link glances down, cringing, fully expecting some sort of overly large spider or something of the like clinging to him.
It’s a baby.
“What the fuck,” Link says, then immediately claps a hand over his mouth. “I mean. What. Uh.”

Summary
Said someone else promptly goes sprawling, and Link sees it’s a kid. He peers up at Link with hazel eyes blown wide, seemingly frozen where he fell.
Link’s heart gives a pang when he processes how skinny the kid is. His wrist bones jut out of threadbare sleeves, cheeks thin, and Link can count his ribs from here. He can also see the fear painted on the kid’s features, plain as day.
Link raises his hands on instinct, taking a small step back to reassure the kid. “Ah, ‘m real sorry ‘bout that,” he offers, keeping his voice low. He carefully drops to a knee, making sure he’s just as disadvantaged as the kid is, and reaches out a hand up. “You alri—?”
The kid punches him in the face.

Summary
Twilight… okay, Twilight can’t say he entirely likes Legend at this point. He’s got a big mouth and a bigger head and is always finding a way to pick on somebody. Especially the younger kids. He’s sullen and unfriendly to the point where Twilight sometimes finds himself weirdly concerned, because no one else tries so hard to push the rest away.
Then Legend starts up an argument and Twilight forgets about all that.
- - -or: Twilight and Legend don't exactly have the most stable relationship after they first meet. Their usual bickering and fighting comes to a head when they're separated from the rest of the group, and now they're forced to figure out their discordance before it kills them both.
(aka i take that one "fight" they had in lu, set it on fire and just generally make things worse :D)

It feels like a childhood he can’t return to, a thing that never existed in the first place. He knows that being here will never feel the same again. He knows that living will never feel the same again without knowing she’s beside him— an empty place left inside where she was supposed to exist, even in silence.

He wonders if he’ll be allowed to stay after he dies. If he can watch Colin and Isla grow up, watch Ilia find her place again and the country get back on its feet. He wonders if he’ll finally be able to go home, just like he promised.
He wonders if he can somehow see Midna again, just once.
But when Link closes his eyes, he sees the Hero’s Shade on the other side, and knows that’s probably more realistic.

Something about his face isn’t right. Warriors doesn't know what it is, but he can tell, in the way that he can tell when a picture doesn’t quite fit the frame.
“Sky,” he starts, careful, taking a step forward.

Summary
Curling his fingers tight around the hilt, he closes his eyes and returns the Master Sword to the pedestal. It feels deceptively easy, sliding into the stone with no argument, like it’s done it a hundred times before. It probably has.
Is it selfish, he wonders, to hope that no one else will pick it up again?

Four smiles a little at that. “Yeah, I get it.”
Somehow, Twilight knows immediately that he does.

Summary
The annoying thing about his phantom pain, Twilight thinks with gritted teeth, is that he still has his arm. So he feels the entire point of the feeling is moot— like, just because he got it sliced off this one time he suddenly has to deal with his brain panicking once in a while, even though his arm is still there. He got better, brain.
His brain doesn’t really seem to give a fuck, because Twilight had pushed himself up from his bedroll that morning and nearly ate it immediately. He’d then stared at the lightening sky above him and thought, oh, okay, so it’s going to be like that.

Summary
Now, with the Triforce on the back of his hand and the markings inked onto his face, he has no idea who he is. Light dweller, but with too much Twili magic in his bones. Twili, but with too much affinity for the Light. He’s caught between both worlds and yet stuck in one, the mirror gone and shattered and leaving him alone with this hole in his chest.
He’s scared it will never go away, that he won’t ever be able to fit into the realm that was once his. He’s scared it will go away, and he’ll forget about those midnight-tinged skies and the way he connected with them.
“Do you feel like ya have’ta choose?” Twilight asks softly, fixing his gaze on Hyrule’s face. “Hylians or fae, I mean?”

Summary
“‘M jus’... not worth it,” he says quietly, so quietly he can barely hear himself. “‘Not worth stayin’ for, I mean. ‘N I dunno how I’m foolin’ y’all into thinkin’ so.”
Silence stretches between them, thick and heavy. Twilight digs one of his canines into his lip as guilt swarms in his throat; that wasn’t fair. It’s not right to just dump shit on people just because he’s feeling like this. Legend’s eyes have gone wide, his body still, like he’d just now understood something. Twilight throws back another gulp of whiskey and tells himself it’s because of the resulting burn that there’s tears in his eyes.
“Yeah,” Legend says suddenly and slowly, drawing out the word by the vowels. “Fuck that, actually.”

Warriors whistles softly through his teeth, eyebrows flicking upward “Damn, what’d you do to land yourself in the castle dungeons?”

She switches out the candles by Touya’s shrine twice as often and keeps the vase of flowers next to his photo fresh. She takes everything that’s wrong in this house and holds it so her brothers won’t have to. She’s the last thing keeping this family together and she knows it, and by God, she will not let whatever is left of her family to break.
Fuyumi is not like her mother, and she will not lose anyone else.

He can’t decide if the admission is relieving or if his chest is going to collapse in on itself. “Don’t get me wrong, I was like eight, and all I could think about was that Endeavour couldn’t take his eyes off Sho if he wanted to, and he wouldn’t look at me even if I cussed him out to his face. But I was just a kid. I didn’t know any better. Right?”
As soon as the quiet and unintentionally desperate words leave his mouth, there’s a roaring in his head, a sudden and visceral need for someone to look him in the face and confirm, ‘It’s okay.
